Broward MPO offers free bike racks

South Florida Business Journal

Date: Thursday, July 14, 2011, 10:02am EDT

The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization has a limited supply of free bike racks for county businesses, governments and commercial property owners.

In an effort to encourage a two-wheeled commute, the Broward MPO, which is responsible for transportation planning countywide, is providing bike parking and installation hardware for those who apply. Applications can be requested from the county’s Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator Mark Horowitz, at (954) 876-0048 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Recipients are responsible for bicycle rack pick-up in Pompano Beach and installation.

The rack giveaway is the latest effort by a South Florida entity to encourage bicycling, a trend that grew during the recession, which also provides a great workout.
