The year 2000 has been a great year for the
City of Wilton Manors, its residents and businesses. Wilton Drive is finally
completed, the 2020 Building has been torn down to make way for new parking,
property values have greatly increased, we have broken ground in improvements
to Colohatchee Park, and new residents andbusinesses continue to move into
the City.
The business community, as well as the residents,
has been working hard to bring new positive change to the City. Next year
holds even more great transformation for Wilton Manors. Construction on
the new Publix at “Five Points” will begin in January. The City will break
ground on two new parks and the renovation of Hagen Park plus the construction
of the new Wilton Manors Library at the beginning of the new year. The
County will begin the design and construction of a landscaped median in
NE 26 Street, and a new bridge will be built on NE 6 Avenue.
Many of these improvements would not be possible
without the dedicated help of the members of the Wilton Manors Business
Association (WMBA). I look forward to working with the WMBA next year to
keep progress moving ahead. This time of the year many business owners
will be entering the busiest time of the year. I hope that you have the
time to remember those who are less fortunate than us. Poverello is again
collecting toys for children who are inflicted with the AIDS disease. If
you would like to donate toys, you can bring them to City Hall at 524 NE
21 Court, and we will bring them to Poverello. Your donations would be
greatly appreciated.
On behalf of the City Council and City staff, I would like to wish you, your families and employees a Happy Holiday Season and a Very Prosperous New Year. Very truly yours Mayor John R. Fiore
