As you drive along N.E. 26th Street, you may have noticed the construction going on in the front of the CATHOLIC CHARITIES building next to the bank. WILTON MANORS ADULT DAY CENTER, a service of CATHOLIC CHARITIES, is expanding and will soon occupy the whole downstairs area of the building. The Center moved here to Wilton Manors about six years ago from the St. George area where it had been located since 1979. So as you can see, we have a long history of providing services for older adults in our community!

Our center is among the growing number of adult day centers in Florida and across the nation as many of us are living longer and are looking for quality of life in our “golden years.” Most of the people who come to the center are older adults who have lost some of their independence and need socialization with their peers, meaningful activities, perhaps some health monitoring, structure and support during their day, and most importantly a community to which they can connect. Their caregivers may need respite and support. You will see a lot of fun and laughter as people enjoy the many varied activities and special events each day. We enjoy resources in the community such as the bowling alley next door, Cholohatchee Park down the street, and local restaurants where we do for occasional outings at lunch.

We are open from 7:30 in the morning until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 to 4:00 on Saturdays. We invite you to stop by for a visit and the whole community will be invited to our “open house” when our expansion is completed. Our new space will include a secured garden in the front with trees, cafe tables and benches, and raised beds where our participants can garden.

Major funding is provided through The Area Agency on Aging through the Department of Elder Affairs in the State of Florida under an agreement with the County Commissioners as well as the Archdiocese of Miami. We also accept private pay participants. Please contact the Center Coordinator, Kay Swicord, at (954) 630- 9501 if you need more information or know of someone who might benefit from our service.
